My muscle memory is so out of shape for film theory . . . I assume Cinestill 800T Recipe is meant to be used at night under Tungsten light.
I've set the custom color temp and it sure is blue. I love your images you shot with this recipe and can't wait to use it in the city at night.
Have you shot this in mixed lighting situations with florescent light mixed in?
Thanks so much!!
I will try that because I'd like to shoot with this recipe during the daylight and I will definitely have to adjust the temperature to accommodate for that. That is one advantage of digital; you can change the temperature with a few clicks rather than switching out an entire roll of film.
Yeah I've shot it under mixed lighting, exactly the sodium vapour combined with florescent lighting as you mentioned and these are the results.
When I first made this recipe I was excited to try shoot in sodium vapour lighting, because it's simply the worst. That kind of light is so dominantly yellow, that no other color can exist next to it, making shooting nighttime a terror sometimes.
As you can see the sodium vapour is the faded yellow green light in these images.
From here I recommend adjusting the color filter to your own liking, and push it in the direction you want to go.
If you'd like more of a cyan look push it B-G, if you'd like warmer tones and more skin color maybe go M-A, or if you only want to correct the vapouur lights, maybe slightly towards M, but from here is more of a creative freedom.
