Hi there, everyone. My name is Aristo. I have just started photography this year and still have plenty to learn. I have just downloaded the **** 8 Sony film simulations for my camera to use. However, based on reading some information from here, I understand the white balance needs to be manually adjusted prior to shooting the photos. Can I use AWB?
Also, I read, "For photos, the effects are baked into JPEGs." Does this refer to me shooting in JPEG or RAW format?
Is there a full video on how to use it after I have loaded them into my picture profiles? (Settings, etc)
Info - The camera is Sony ZV-E10 and my lens is Sigma 30mm f1.4
Thanks everyone!
Hei Aristo, and welcome to the forum!
Don't use AWB, I have answered this question regarding AWB on multiple posts and you can check them here.
The film simulations are applied directly to the JPG files, which means you'll need to shoot in JPG format to achieve the desired effect on your photos. However, I recommend using the RAW+JPG setting, as this allows you to save both formats. This approach offers the best of both worlds. Relying solely on JPG can be limiting for future editing, and it's always wise to have your RAW files saved. You never know when you might want to make adjustments or enhancements to your images, and having the RAW files gives you greater flexibility in post-processing.
If you mean settings regarding picture profile and how you can adjust each parameter, I have youtube tutorials on my channel.
If you mean how to expose images, well that is a different topic which you can learn by searching videos on exposure triangle, meaning shutter speed, aperture and ISO.
