Hello! Thank you so much for making all the simulations, I am loading up my camera to test them out and see what I like best. I had a quick question as I was reading this blog post of yours and was interested in the FL setting but it seems like this is only available for CL? https://www.veresdenialex.com/post/sony-creative-look-vs-picture-profile-for-film-emulations I have a RX100VA so my camera does not have creative look settings. I was wondering how to put this recipe through picture profile, or if it is already in the paid simulation book and I was missing it. Thank you
This recipe can only be recreated using the FL Creative Look, as it relies on very specific look that's not possible to achieve with standard Picture Profiles. If it were, I would’ve built it that way. Unfortunately, this means the recipe is only compatible with newer camera models that support Creative Looks.
I'm enjoying trying out the film simulations but wondered if I need to tweak them to match my old A7Rii old colour science?
Hey! Since it was released back in August 2015, there's a good chance your setup might need a few tweaks.
To get a better idea, could you send me one photo taken with Kodak Gold and another with Fuji 400H?
With both a warm and a cool film look, I’ll be able to figure out what general adjustments your camera needs.
Hello there.
Got myself a RX100V a week back and been fiddeling with the free sony film simulation.
I tried too collor match them but alas its is frustrating as i dont seme to get it rigth.
So here i am asking for help as i have understand that i am bad at this.
I have put in Vektro 100, Fuji 400H, EvPro+, Kodak Gold and Portra 800 into my camera and saved them as memory recall wich is really nice function.
After searching around i saw you needed pictures of things in red, blue, yellow and green so i did that.
Thankyou so much for the help, I always wanted to try film sim after i stumpled on your video on youtube. Now i am just wating for the diffusion filter and the adapter to come in the mail.

On HEIF Format:
HEIF is a pretty cool feature—it gives you better color and less noise, which makes your photos look great straight out of the camera.—aimed for "ready-to-share" images. However, since it’s still not widely supported across all devices and platforms, it’s not exactly a one-click share experience. You’ll usually need to convert them to JPG first, which adds an extra step and can be a bit annoying. Still, if you're okay with quickly batch-exporting HEIFs to JPG on your PC (which only takes a couple of minutes), you’ll get significantly better image quality than standard JPGs, and it’s far more convenient than working with RAW files.
On Creative Looks and Future Plans: Right now, I don’t plan to make recipes for Creative Looks. After four intense years creating Sony film simulations, I’m honestly burned out. It’s been a rewarding but challenging process, and I’m not excited about starting a whole new preset pack from scratch. At this point, I think there are already more than enough film simulations—sometimes even too many to choose from.
I might revisit Creative Looks later, but for now, they feel too limited. You can only shift colors slightly, which leads to repetitive results. Unlike Picture Profiles, which offer much more control, Creative Looks can feel restrictive.
While Fujifilm has hundreds of recipes (many of them nearly identical), I’ve tried to keep the Sony collection focused on originality and simplicity. I don’t believe more equals better—I believe in a smaller number of high-quality, intentional recipes.
With the latest update, there will be 82 film simulations. I feel I’ve reached a creative limit—new ones would likely just be small variations of what already exists. That’s not exciting to me.
Creative Looks do have some presets with a nice feel (like FL and IN SH), but overall, they lack the depth and control I get with Picture Profiles. Some things just can’t be recreated either way, but PP gives me more flexibility and better results. That’s why I’m sticking with them for now.
