Fuji's Reala Ace on Sony Cameras | It All Starts With Pro Neg STD

Fujifilm dropped the new Reala Ace film simulation in 2023 when they launched the GFX100—but things really took off when it hit the X100VI. And when Fuji added the simulation to other cameras, the hype grew. Many photographers, like Justin Myers and Alik Griffin, consider it their go-to Fuji film simulations. And many media outlets praised it. For a while, this new film simulation recipe felt like the new gold standard for SOOC colors.
But not everyone's got a Fuji under their belt - So can you recreate the Reala Ace film simulation on Sony cameras?
Short answer: you can. And if you’ve already played with my Pro Neg STD recipe, you're a few tweaks away from getting there.

What is Reala Ace?
The Reala Ace film simulation by Fujifilm draws its inspiration from the classic Fujicolor Superia Reala Ace 100 color negative film, a multi-purpose film that was discontinued in 2013.
Samples of this film are scarce on the internet, but here's what I found. You'll find more sample in the source link!

Comparing Reala Ace to Pro Neg STD
I haven’t tested the official Reala Ace simulation directly. I pre-ordered the Fujifilm X100VI, but canceled after months of delays. This Sony recipe is based on shared comparisons and analysis from sources like Fuji X Weekly, which suggest Reala Ace is close to Pro Neg STD.
And I find that it does shares its character with Fujifilm's Pro Neg STD film simulation. Both focus on natural skin tones and a soft, cinematic feel. The key differences are subtle—Reala Ace adds a bit more saturation, deeper blues, and slightly more contrast, giving it a cleaner, punchier look while staying natural and restrained.
At its core, Reala Ace proves that sometimes, a well-balanced recipe is all it takes.
Now...
Can You Get the Reala Ace Look on Sony Cameras?
Yep. Thanks to Sony’s much improved color science, it’s totally possible to match the Reala Ace look on Sony cameras with a custom picture profile.
I’d already built a recipe to mimic Pro Neg STD, so tweaking it to get the deeper blues and a little extra contrast was easy. The end result feels clean, balanced. It feels right at home, even on a Sony sensor.
These types of Sony film simulation recipes are gaining popularity among photographers who want that Fujifilm color feel without switching systems.

Why Are People Obsessed With this Fujifilm film simulation?
Honestly? I think timing has a lot to do with it.
The X100VI launched into a world already obsessed with SOOC (straight-out-of-camera) shooting. Add a new film simulation, plus the Fuji cult following… and boom: Reala Ace became “the one to try.”
What really matters, though, is that it delivers that sweet spot between “filmic” and “realistic.” It just looks… good. And Reala Ace fits the bill for many photographers who want realistic tones, minimal editing, and consistency across a series.

Sometimes Less is More
What makes the Fujifilm Reala Ace look stand out is its simplicity.
The simulation delivers natural skin tones, rich but restrained colors, and just enough contrast to add depth. It's the kind of look that feels effortless.
