New Update: Sony Picture Profile Film simulations

Hi everyone!
I originally planned to release this update last autumn, but winter arrived sooner than expected. In hindsight, that delay was a blessing. It gave me the dedicated time to reflect on this project, refine my ideas, and bring something truly special to the table for this final release.
What’s New
More AWB Recipes: Created a few more since you loved the previous automatic white balance options.
Request-Based Simulations: Added highly requested Ricoh Negative and Olympus PEN 9 looks, meticulously matched from online samples.
Note on accuracy: Because I didn't have these specific camera bodies on hand for side-by-side testing, these profiles are strictly independent recreations built entirely from online reference images. Because they haven't been directly compared to the real cameras, they won't be a perfect 1:1 match, but they are carefully crafted to capture the overall essence and mood of those classic looks.
Fuji C200 (V1 & V2): Two distinct versions to capture different scanner profiles.
Calibrated Kodak Portra 400: Created by shooting and scanning multiple rolls on both Noritsu and Frontier scanners for the closest possible straight-out-of-camera (SOOC) look.
Accurate Canon Look: Calibrated the profile against a Canon R8 for maximum accuracy.
The Big Change (S-Log to Cine): Switched all S-Log2/3 recipes to Cine1–4 Gammas. Newer Sony cameras lack S-Log2, and S-Log3 is often too flat for SOOC shooting. Cine gammas provide beautiful, soft contrast without the extra editing hassle.
Removed 'Candy Look': Discontinued because it was too similar to Oktar and didn't add a unique flavor to the pack.
Minor Adjustments: Tweaked colors on several existing recipes for better overall balance.
Tip: You can absolutely use nighttime recipes like 'Gold Luxe' and 'Nexa' during the day—they look fantastic in both scenarios!
A Final Note on Gear & Color Consistency:
Please keep in mind that variations in camera bodies, lenses, and sensor generations will naturally affect your final colors, especially between older and newer Sony models. While sensor technology changes constantly, most of these differences can be adjusted in-camera with some practice. I’ve published multiple articles and tutorials showcasing this color-matching workflow for Sony camera to help you get the best results.
Honestly, even shooting in a different environment or tweaking your exposure on the same camera will give you a totally different look. It all comes down to the mix of light, the colors in the scene, and how our eyes perceive those colors based on the brightness around them.
My ultimate advice? Don't stress over absolute 1:1 matching. Color is completely subjective and constantly reacts to your environment, lighting, and the season. Instead of chasing perfection, focus on getting beautiful colors and enjoying the unique character of your gear. If you are unsure how these will look on your specific camera, I highly recommend trying my free recipes first to make sure they suit your workflow before making a purchase!
If you have trouble with your cameras color, send me some samples and I help you fix it!
6 Years, 89 Recipes, and Reaching the Summit
It’s wild to think this project started six years ago as a simple passion project with just seven film simulations. Today, that collection has grown to 89. For the past two years, I’ve caught myself saying, "This is the last update," only to dive back in, driven by the desire to push the absolute limits of in-camera color.
My goal was to prove that you can achieve incredible, rich results straight out of the camera, and this final collection is the proof. While early updates were frequent and drastic, fewer adjustments were needed as time went by. This release focuses on subtle refinement and expansion; the core simulations are exactly where they need to be.
After six years of relentless iteration, this project has officially reached its perfected form. While I may occasionally release a one-off recipe or subtle adjustment, the bulk of the work is done. Adding more recipes would only dilute the distinct character of the pack. I will always be here to support the community, but my work on the core pack is mostly complete & finally the definitive version of this project is finally here.
The Last Shoot
I am incredibly proud of this final version. The new sample shots are my personal favorites from the last six years, which makes this milestone especially meaningful. The light and contrast in these images perfectly showcase the true potential of these simulation.
I carefully chose locations that encompass a wide range of natural colors, giving you a clear, honest look at how each simulation performs in real-world conditions.
Sony Film Simulation: Real-Life Samples
A quick note on the samples: The majority of these images are 100% SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera) JPEGs shot on the Sony a6700 with the 18-55mm f/2.8 G lens.
However, because I received my physical Portra 400 lab scans after taking these initial shots, side-by-side comparisons revealed an opportunity to refine the simulation even further for a closer match. To ensure this guide perfectly reflects those final adjustments, the Portra 400 samples were recreated using the matching Lightroom presets, with the RAW files edited to precisely match the updated simulation profile. What you see here is exactly what the final recipe delivers.
Thank you for being part of this incredible six-year journey! Find your favorites, stick with them, and enjoy the process.
Let’s stay connected! Thanks so much for checking in and supporting the project. I'd love to see how your photos turned out. Join our community on Reddit to share your shots, ask questions, and connect with other creators!
